Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to provide substance abuse treatment to males and females ages 14-18 who are experiencing emotional, family, legal, educational or medical difficulties due to their substance abuse and to help them achieve optimal emotional well-being under the least restrictive conditions. Since the substance abuser is often dependent upon the support of their family, the cooperation and education of the family is an important element of the treatment.

Adolescent IOP is a proven treatment for adolescents who abuse or have developed a dependence upon alcohol or drugs.  Our program provides:

• An evidence-based recovery model
• An opportunity for teens to establish drug-free supportive relationships
• Help with developing the skills necessary for maintaining recovery
• A highly-structured after-school program
• Weekly family support groups

Phase I consists of afterschool sessions 4 days a week for 4 weeks – Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3 to 6 pm. Phase II Aftercare is one weekly afterschool session for 10 weeks. Participants may choose to continue in Aftercare for as long as they like.

Referrals are accepted from any region. Placement in the program can only be made after program staff have conducted an intake assessment and evaluation.

Adolescent IOP services are covered by most insurance plans with prior authorization, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, United Behavioral Health (Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, United Healthcare, NH Healthy Kids – Silver), Anthem, and Tufts.
